Earlier in 2019, the British Standard for the preparation, commissioning, and maintenance of domestic heating and cooling water systems was updated to include changes for domestic heating systems

Magnetic filter installation
An in-line filter should be fitted on ALL radiator heating systems to help capture magnetite which collects within radiators and other components of your heating system.

Required by British Standard: YES                                             Carried out by SGS Heating & Electrical? YES

Chemical protection
High quality chemical inhibitors should be added to all radiator networks to restrict corrosion within your radiators.

Required by British Standard: YES                                             Carried out by SGS Heating & Electrical? YES

Heating water testing
A water test should be carried out annually to test the level of inhibitor and cleanliness of the system.

Required by British Standard: YES                                             Carried out by SGS Heating & Electrical? YES

Maintenance
The system should be re-dosed with inhibitor at least every five years to ensure continuous protection.

Required by British Standard: YES                                             Carried out by SGS Heating & Electrical? YES

At SGS we can ensure that all the above regulations are complied with by installing a magnetic filter with every boiler installation, encouraging customers who have boilers without magnetic filtration present to have one installed, ensuring that our customers’ heating systems are dosed with high quality cleaning and inhibitor chemicals, carrying out regular testing of customer heating system water and re-dosing heating systems with inhibitor on a regular basis.

If you have any questions about any aspect of heating system filtration and chemical dosing please contact us online, give us a call on 01722 331066 or speak to one of our engineers while they’re at your property.
