Estimated Energy Savings of £1,200 per year with Solar PV and Battery Storage

We’ve been serving Salisbury and its surrounding areas for over 35 years, but it still gives us a real sense of pride to see how our work continues to make a difference to local people. So we love being part of community projects like this one at Idmiston Parish Memorial Hall in Porton.

Our Project and Renewables Manager, Nathan Hollywood, carried out a full site survey to assess the most effective renewable energy solutions, for the right budget, to reduce the energy bills and running costs of the Hall.

With the installation that was chosen, the energy savings are expected to be around £1,200 per year.

The main aspects of the job were:
  1. Installation of Solar PV and Battery Storage System
  2. Replace the lighting with more energy efficient, colour changing, LEDs
  3. Install Air to Air Heating and Cooling System
  4. Replacement of Consumer units and fitting additional sockets where required

Providing the best solutions and the best customer service, is at the heart of what we do. So we really appreciate it when customers like this take the time to write a 5 star review.

Here’s what our customer had to say about the completed project:

And here’s what we installed:

Solar PV

Powering the Hall with the Sun

12 x Trina 415, all black solar panels on van der Valk flat roof mounting equipment (no penetration to roof required)

Hybrid Inverter

1 x Huawei 3.6kW hybrid inverter (10 year warranty) with Solar monitoring app

Battery Storage System

The addition of a solar battery system, will help to maximise the energy saving potential.

1 x Huawei BMS (battery management system)

1x 5kW Huawei Battery (10 year warranty)

Solar panels are capable of generating power throughout the year, even on a cloudy winter’s day. So even when the hall isn’t in use and energy consumption is at its lowest, the solar panels will still be generating energy. This energy would simply go to waste without the addition of a solar battery system. Now, any excess energy will be stored so the hall can be switched to battery power whenever needed. This is great for powering future evening functions, when the solar array can no longer generate energy.

Air Conditioning

Now they can control the temperature inside the hall, whatever the weather is doing outside!

5 x Mitsubishi Wall Mounted Air conditioning units with Built In WIFI 7.1kW R32 Diamond Inverter. 1ph White

With the addition of an Air to Air heating and cooling system, the temperature inside the hall can now be controlled via an app. This gives the customer full control of the temperature inside, whatever the weather is doing outside.

Lighting

Energy Saving, Colour-changing, LED lighting

We also replaced the lighting throughout the premises with energy saving LEDs, which are also fully controllable via management system. This has the added benefit of being dimmable, with a full array of colour changing options too, a perfect addition to a space used for so many different types of entertainment. (Lighting materials were provided by ‘Light My Space’).

Electrical

We replaced the consumer units and fitted some additional sockets throughout the hall, as per the customers specification.

Idmiston Parish Memorial Hall was first opened in 1959 to commemorate local parishioners who gave their lives in WWI and WWII.

65 years later and the hall is still an important part of village life, serving as a community hub for local residents through the various groups and classes held there.

The way we heat and light our homes and commercial buildings has changed a great deal since the hall was first built. And with energy prices at their highest, finding greener, more energy efficient solutions has become an increasingly important part of the successful running of community sites like this. So, we were delighted to be part of the team of professionals involved in this energy saving project.
