This new Solar PV system, battery and Air Source Heat Pump will generate around of 5,948 kWh making Hulse Hall in Braemore, 80% self-sufficient and saving around £1,400 a year in electricity bills.
We love being part of energy saving community projects like this one at Hulse Hall.
Hulse Hall sits at the heart of Braemore in Fordingbridge, Hampshire. It’s an integral part of the local community, providing a hub for local residents to get together at the many events and clubs that are held there.
As SGS have been serving Salisbury and the surrounding areas for over 35 years, we understand the meaningful role that buildings like this play in our local community. And while energy prices remain high, we also understand the need for such projects to focus on reducing energy costs wherever possible and that’s where our renewable energy team are qualified to help.
What we installed:
Solar PV
14 x Longi HiMo6 Explorer 430W All Black Mono solar panel giving a total array size of just over 6kW
From the minute the solar array was installed and fully operational, free energy generation began…
Hybrid Inverter and GivEnergy Battery
1x 5kW Gen 3 GivEnergy Hybrid Inverter
1x 8.2kW Gen 2 GivEnergy Battery
A hybrid Inverter has the ability to manage energy from a variety of sources whether from direct current (DC) generated by solar panels or alternating current (AC) power directly from the grid.
A hybrid inverter is “the brains” of the operation, it manages the different energy sources to power the building according to supply. For example when solar pv generates excess energy, the hybrid inverter will automatically charge-up the battery. A battery is the icing on the cake in terms of energy saving, because it’s literally designed to save and store energy. This means no energy is wasted, combined with the hybrid inverter excess energy is stored in the battery for use at times when solar energy can no longer be generated, such as at night. This makes it an ideal solution to provide power for any evening functions held at the hall.
Air Source Heat Pump
Daikin – 16Kw High Capacity Monobloc
An Air Source Heat Pump is a highly energy efficient way to heat your home, with efficiency rates of around 300%, compared to 90% for an A-rated gas boiler.
As part of the UK’s 2050 Net Zero target, Air Source Heat Pumps are fast becoming one of the most popular ways to replace traditional fossil fuelled heating.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme* is a government incentive to assist with the upfront costs of replacing fossil fuel heating systems with a heat pump or biomass boiler (*check if you’re eligible).
From 23rd October 2023, the grants available are:
- £7,500 off the cost and installation of an air source heat pump
- £7,500 off the cost and installation of a ground source heat pump
- £5,000 off the cost and installation of a biomass boiler
Until 31st March 2027, there is NO VAT on renewable energy products, which includes heat pumps, so there’s never been a better time to install an Air Source Heat Pump.
