Power Flushing

What is Power flushing?

Power flushing is the most efficient and effective method of cleansing a central heating system. The principle is to create a powerful fresh water flow under controlled conditions to remove debris from the system. By connecting the power flushing unit to the heating circuit in place of the system pump, boiler or radiator the circuit can be thoroughly cleansed of limescale and corrosion debris. When used in conjunction with a Fernox cleanser a typical power flush can be completed in 3-4 hours.

Why could your system need power flushing?

  • There are cold spots in your radiators due to sludge sediment settling at the bottom.
  • Frequent venting of the radiators is needed as the top is cold during operation.
  • The pump seizes and fails, due to the abrasive and magnetic properties of black oxide sludge increases shaft and bearing wear in the pump causing it to stick or fail.
  • The boiler is noisy. The sludge and scale builds up and increases the frequency and intensity.
  • Fuel wastage. Corrosion debris accumulates in the boiler, causing an increase in limescale deposits, reduced heat transfer and up to a third of your fuel bill being spent on nothing.

What can be done to solve the problem?

  • Thoroughly cleanse existing systems with Fernox Restorer or Fernox Superconcentrate System Cleaner before adding a suitable Fernox Protector to maintain efficiency and ensure the longevity of the system.
